Couples / Marriage Counseling

_________

At Light Bridge Counseling Group, we believe communication is the key to successful relationships and growth.

Seeking couples counseling does not mean you have failed in your relationship or as a person. We all face challenges and are not always given the tools we need to successfully navigate the complexities of any relationship.

We focus on practical tools to improve communication and work to understand how we can improve your relationship. We offer a 15-minute free consultation to ensure it is a good fit for what you are seeking because your time is valuable.

Some of our therapeutic approaches include:

  • Attachment-Based Couples Therapy - Focuses on attachment styles and needs. Helps partners understand how their attachment patterns affect relationship dynamics and develop more secure ways of relating.

  • Communication-Focused Approaches -Teaches specific communication skills like active listening, assertiveness, conflict resolution, and fair fighting rules. May be integrated with other therapeutic approaches.

  • Discernment Counseling - Short-term approach (1-5 sessions) for couples considering divorce. Helps partners gain clarity and confidence about the direction of their relationship—whether to try to restore it, maintain status quo, or move toward separation.

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) - Evidence-based approach focusing on attachment and bonding. Helps couples identify negative interaction patterns, access underlying emotions, and create secure emotional bonds. Highly effective for relationship distress.

  • The Gottman Method ™ - Research-based approach developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman. Focuses on building friendship, managing conflict, and creating shared meaning. This approach uses assessment tools to identify strengths and areas for growth.

  • Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy (IBCT) - Combines acceptance and change strategies. Helps couples develop tolerance for differences while also promoting constructive behavioral changes. Emphasizes emotional acceptance and empathy.

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) - Goal-oriented approach emphasizing strengths and solutions rather than problems. Helps couples envision their ideal relationship and identify small, achievable steps toward that vision.
